Hard floor cleaning is the specific territory the Dyson Omni-Glide was designed for, and the omnidirectional cleaner head is where that focus is most visible. Unlike a conventional stick vacuum that pivots only forward and back, the Omni-Glide’s fluffy roller head moves freely in all directions, allowing the user to track along a skirting board, cut across a room diagonally, or steer through a narrow gap without repositioning. The cyclone separation stage upstream of the HEPA element handles most of the bulk debris, but fine particles, particularly the lightweight dust that a fluffy roller agitates from hard floor surfaces, pass through and load the element over time. A HEPA filter that has been in service for several months without washing passes less air per second than a clean one, and the machine’s suction at the cleaning head reflects that restriction directly. Washing monthly and replacing annually preserves the pickup performance the design is rated for.
