iRobot RCA-Y1 – Plus.Parts® Maintenance Set

The iRobot RCA-Y1 is the European market designation for the Roomba Combo j7. It shares the same robot chassis, the same pressure-applying mop arm, the same 10x Power-Lifting Suction and the same consumable set. The RCA-Y1 ships with a charging base only, so the owner empties the bin and refills the mop tank manually. All consumables are identical across the full c-series and Combo j-series range, so the 18 parts in this set fit every model without modification.

This set supplies Plus.Parts® direct-fit alternatives to the original iRobot parts 4812261 / 4812262: two sets of dual rubber brushes, four high-efficiency filters, four side brushes, four mop pads and two dustbags – 18 parts in all. The side brush is the component that owners overlook longest on the RCA-Y1, and the failure mode is subtle. The three-prong edge-sweeping brush rotates at the front corner of the robot, sweeping debris from skirting boards and room corners into the main brush path. Its prongs wear from the tip inward with each pass along a wall or piece of furniture, gradually curling under the chassis as they shorten. The robot does not register this as a fault because the main rubber brushes continue operating correctly. The first sign is a visible strip of dust along the baseboard after a run that previously left the edge clean. By that point the prongs have lost enough reach that they are deflecting debris sideways rather than inward. To check, unscrew the side brush and hold it flat against a table surface: if any prong has visibly curled or is noticeably shorter than the others, replace the brush immediately. In a home where the RCA-Y1 runs a daily schedule, four months is a practical maximum before prong reach degrades.

Tap the high-efficiency filter weekly and replace every two to three months. Clear both rubber brush end caps every two weeks: remove each roller, slide the orange end cap off and lift hair from the bearing boss. Replace the brush pair every eight to twelve months. Rinse the mop pad after every run, machine-wash weekly without fabric softener, air-dry completely. The dustbags in this set are ready if you upgrade to a Clean Base.
