The iRobot Roomba i8578 is the European retail designation for the iRobot Roomba i8 with Clean Base auto-empty integration. The robot combines top-tier i-series Imprint Smart Mapping with automatic bin emptying, after each cleaning session it docks and evacuates the bin into the Clean Base, allowing continuous operation with minimal manual intervention. The AeroForce 3-stage cleaning system handles the physical collection: side brushes sweep edges into the path, dual rubber extractors agitate and lift debris from the surface, and suction draws it through the high-efficiency filter into the bin. The filter captures fine particles that would otherwise be exhausted back into the room after the motor stage.
When the bin empties automatically into the Clean Base, the filter stays in the robot and continues accumulating fine dust. Over time, media loading raises airflow resistance and the suction level drops. Replacing the filter on schedule keeps the i8578 operating at the level its specification describes.
