The iRobot Roomba 770 is the first 700-series model to carry optical bin sensors inside the bin chamber, making it the entry point of the mid tier. It adds a 7-day scheduler via an on-robot keypad and the dual-mode Virtual Wall Lighthouse in place of the older single-mode Virtual Wall. The consumable maintenance set is identical across all sixteen named 700-series models.

This set supplies Plus.Parts® direct-fit alternatives to the original iRobot parts: a set of main brushes, 3 side brushes, 6 HEPA-style filters and 2 cleaning tools – 13 parts in all. The two optical bin sensors inside the bin chamber are the 770’s most significant maintenance addition. They monitor debris level to drive the full-bin indicator, and a fine dust residue on either optical window lowers the debris threshold at which the indicator fires. The robot then calls itself full and returns to the Home Base early, sometimes with a bin that is under half full. Remove the bin, hold it up in good light, locate the two small optical windows inside the chamber, and wipe each with a melamine foam eraser. A clean sensor is visibly clear; a filmed sensor has a dull, slightly cloudy appearance. iRobot recommends cleaning the optical sensors fortnightly. The 770 still carries the 14.4 V NiMH pack, so the eighteen-to-twenty-four-month battery replacement window applies. If the 770 consistently completes shorter runs than expected, clean the optical windows before drawing any conclusion about coverage or route programming – the premature full-bin signal is by far the most common cause of shortened cleaning sessions on this model.

Behind the set is a real team at VacuumReviews.eu, so if early dock returns persist after a sensor wipe, contact us and we can help distinguish between sensor fouling and a genuine bin-capacity issue.
