Rinse the filter weekly under running water and allow a full 24 hours of air drying before reinstalling – a damp filter develops mould at the base of the pleats within days and produces a musty odour on the next cleaning run. Do not scrub the pleats with a brush; scrubbing compresses the filter media and reduces the effective surface area. When the pleats are no longer translucent against a bright light, replace rather than rinse. Two fresh filters in this set let you rotate one in while the other dries, which eliminates the temptation to re-install a still-damp cartridge.
