The piezo sensor counts airborne particles in real time and feeds that data to the LCD display, and in Auto mode the machine reads the sensor output to decide when to increase suction. The key relationship between the filter and the sensor is airflow: the sensor inlet sits in the path of the air passing through the post-motor filter housing. When the filter carries more than a month of compacted fine dust, the reduced airflow past the sensor inlet causes it to undercount particles, and the machine holds suction at a level lower than the actual floor load requires. On the SV26, the LCD shows a filter wash alert when this restriction is detected, providing a clear prompt before motor pulsing begins.
