The Dyson SV46 is a V12 Detect Slim platform cordless stick vacuum, running on the Dyson Hyperdymium motor at 125,000 rpm and producing 150 AW of suction. The V12 Detect Slim platform’s whole-machine HEPA approach seals the entire machine so all exhaust air must exit through the HEPA filter: the filter is engaged every time the machine runs. Located at the machine’s exhaust point, the HEPA filter is the final stage in the airpath before air is returned to the room, and its condition directly affects how freely air can flow through the machine. A filter that is blocked with accumulated particulate raises restriction in the airpath and reduces the suction the motor can deliver. The HEPA filter should be rinsed under cold tap water only, not hot water and not detergent, and air-dried for a minimum of 24 hours before reinstallation.
