The main rubber brush is what makes the vacuuming side of that routine work: with every session it rotates against the floor surface, loosening embedded dust and pet hair and directing it into the intake. Across hard floors and low carpet, the rubber design maintains good contact and handles the transition between surfaces as part of normal operation. The dock handles the emptying and mop work; the brush handles the floor, and like any component working against a surface daily, the rubber compound wears over time.
