The Allergy configuration specifies the filtration to a higher capture threshold than the standard DC39, and that higher threshold is only meaningful when the filter is consistently maintained. A HEPA pre-filter captures the particles the cyclone separator cannot retain by size alone: fine allergens, microscopic skin particles, and pollen fragments that would otherwise pass through a standard-grade filter and recirculate into room air. As the filter accumulates those particles, its own resistance increases, and the DC39 Allergy’s suction begins to reflect the load it is carrying.
This replacement contains a Plus.Parts® washable HEPA pre-filter matched to the DC39 Allergy’s original filter slot dimensions. It installs without modification, maintains the same rinse-and-dry cycle as the original, and restores the vacuum’s allergen capture rate to its designed level.
