The J4 uses Narwal’s self-cleaning dock approach, where the mop pads are automatically washed and dried at the base station between sessions, reducing the hands-on maintenance required from the user. The vacuum system uses a dust bin filter positioned between the collection chamber and the motor to capture fine particles and prevent them from entering the drive components. As the robot cleans across its daily schedule, filter loading accumulates gradually. Once the filter media becomes restricted beyond what washing can restore, airflow through the system drops and effective suction at the floor is reduced. Cleaning the filter regularly by rinsing and replacing it when the media is spent is the primary maintenance task for the J4’s vacuum function.
